Herinner je je nog de Terminator films met Arnold Schwarzenegger? Als “cyborg” had hij daarin een oog waarin een extra informatielaag geprojecteerd werd. Heel cool, heel science-fiction, heel “dit kan nooit gebeuren”.
Tot Augmented Reality eraan kwam, en nanotechnologie. Toen werd plots alles mogelijk. Als je dit artikel over Augmented Reality in contact lenzen leest op de IEEE site, hoe onmogelijk en veraf is Cyborg technologie dan nog?
The true promise of this research is not just the actual system we end up making, whether it’s a display, a biosensor, or both. We already see a future in which the humble contact lens becomes a real platform, like the iPhone is today, with lots of developers contributing their ideas and inventions. As far as we’re concerned, the possibilities extend as far as the eye can see, and beyond.
